Why Exhaled Hope Exists.

I got tired of hearing the same sermons.

And I realized that some of those sermons wouldn't resonate with people who didn't grow up with a church history.

The greatest freedom for me was realizing that God doesn't just speak through a pastor and their sermon. He can speak through poetry. Through dance. Through a skit. Through a t-shirt. He's too big of a God to limit Him.

I just want to meet people where they are. And there are many outside of the traditional church that need to hear the good news of Christ.

My senior year of high school, I shared a piece for a Black History Program. My great grandmother was in the audience. When the program finished, she beamed with pride and told me how great a job I'd done.

She was a Baptist First Lady. And she didn't give weightless compliments just to be clear. I knew then that I had to do something with my writing. If she could understand, enjoy, and be inspired by what I said as a teenager, I knew I could inspire the masses.

Back to the beginning...

I understand the power of words. And I believe in the power of God's word to bring hope even in suffocating situations.

Every time I step to the mic, I take a deep breath... and exhale. My prayer? That the words after that exhale deliver hope.

Exhaled Hope is for anyone who needs a reminder that there is still light in a dark world. It's a safe space to breathe deep, exhale the weight we carry, and find a bit of hope to help you through the day.

Real and relatable. Not churchy.

The Exhale.
